I went to Minato Sushi with my boyfriend as his pick and I wasn't too excited at first. Located in a strip mall in Thousand Oaks, it doesn't look like anything special. Boy was I surprised. This place goes above and beyond any of the popular sushi places on Ventura Blvd. or any where else . The cut rolls are enormous, filled with giant pieces of fresh fish, and they all taste amazing. I would highly suggest the Crazy Salmon Roll and the Oh-Mega Roll, both full of flavor and textures. One thing I really liked about this sushi place over others is their menu features a little break-down chart, name of roll, whats on the inside, what its wrapped in, whats on the outside, and what sauce. What a change from other sushi restaurants which for some unknown reason like to keep their ingredients secret. I cannot say enough great things about this place. Jarot and Steve were very helpful at the sushi bar and the hostess and waitress were very accommodating. I would also suggest ordering cold Saki, it arrives chilled and in large amounts. I highly suggest breaking away from typical good sushi places which don't have any place to park, have waiting lists that end up being hours long, rolls are the width of a quarter, and the service is horrible to try this little unknown to receive the best sushi experience ever. Pros: lots of space, no wait, well priced, variety, easy parking, great service Cons: a little bright inside
