Review content:
When they lived nearby, my parents used to frequent this market a lot. I recall on a few occasions even stopping in myself. The first thing I noticed was the smell--now mind you, I am a vegetarian--so the pungent whiff of raw pork feet and beef tongue and goat brains and just about any other Mexican meat-based ""delicacy"" you can think of wouldn't exactly inspire my appetite. That said, for basic produce the store is OK (flies can be a problem as is bruised fruit) but the prices are to-die-for -- where else can you find 3 pounds of purple onion for under a $1 ??? That's the cost of one at Whole Food (non-organic!). Anyway, it's also a great spot for Mexican treats like those pink little wafer cookies that, although totally colored with artificial dyes that can't be good for you, just taste amazing!
Pros: Cheap produce, good market selection
Cons: Smell of raw flesh
