Review content:
We arived at the first hotel/motel that we come to when entering Portsmouth, VA. We are from out of town but my husbands ship is docked in Portsmouth so we wanted to be close. We know the area isn't super great so we didnt expect a Hilton, so from the outside the place looked ok. We get our room and go inside. After traveling we go inside and straight to the bathroom and notice the tub is full of water, the toilet is dirty and there are ashes on the floor so we call and get another room. This room appears ok so we sat down for a few minutes to relax before unpacking our cars. The TV remote doesn't work, ok no big deal. We get all our stuff out of the car and start getting stuff out ready for bed. There are holes in the mattress, we can deal with that, its late and we are tired. I find a dead roach on the floor... UGH ok, I can deal with that too, atleast it is dead right? My husband goes to take a shower and the knobs are all messed up and the showerhead is no good but I guess it gets the job done however unpleasant. While he is in the shower I start hearing loud movement upstairs. I assume they are doing their thing, hope it doesn't last long... Husband gets out and says wait awhile because the water got cold after a few minutes. In the mean time the noise upstairs gets louder, I hear screaming and yelling and things being thrown around and ""Im going to kill you."" I called the front desk several times and only got a busy signal. I finally called 911. At this point I don't feel safe, Im now a snitch, and the officer is telling me I should not stay there. I turn my key in to the front desk and I am told that I stayed more than 10 minutes so I pay for the room. At this point I can't afford a safe room in a different part of town that the officers direct us to and am forced to find somewhere to sleep in my vehicle. My husband goes to work every day to protect our countries safety and is forced to sleep in a truck because that feels safer than the room we paid for.
