I moved recently across town in Chicago. It was a 2-bedroom move and we were quoted $378. That was a really reasonable price compared to a lot of other quotes I had gotten from other companies. I ended up going with EZ because the company we initially wanted was booked.
Scheduling was a real breeze. Maryam was very helpful on the phone and helped schedule movers so that we could be out of our apartment by the time our landlord needed us out.
The day of the move came, and our movers showed up right on time in our time slot. One of our roommates was also moving out that day and had scheduled movers for the same time. But our movers were really accommodating and worked around the other company. (We did separate our belongings by room so there would be less confusion.) They loaded the truck pretty quickly, considering we did have a lot of larger furniture pieces. I have a large, very heavy, and very expensive desk. I pointed this piece out to them, and the movers were great about making sure that it was totally protected. They were also very careful with our TV. They also wrapped our couches with drop cloths so they would not get dirty. The movers were so friendly and went out of their way to help us move some damaged furniture to the back alley where it could be thrown away.
It was 95 degrees on our move day, but all four of our movers were champs. When we got to our new place, it was a hassle for them to park their truck, but they worked around the inconvenience of having to park in the alley behind our house and carry everything through the yard. What really made EZ shine for me was that--unbeknownst to us before we moved in that morning--the previous tenants of our new apartment had failed to move out everything, and there were lots of furniture and garbage that our building manager was still clearing away when we moved in. Our movers worked around the building manager's people without complaint and made it as easy as possible for us to get everything where we needed it.
Our total price ended up at $445. It was more than we were quoted, but that is because our movers had to work around our building manager's people. (We will definitely be asking our landlord for some compensation.) As far as some of the other reviews go on Yelp that talk about stealing, our movers asked us to physically look inside the truck before they left, and because they had been so great so far, I had no worries about them taking anything. I really don't think I could have gotten through the move without a breakdown had it not been for the really friendly, professional demeanor of our movers.
