Review content:
The building itself is worth seeing- look up at the ceiling of the lobby as you walk in and I bet you'll agree that it is magnificent. And then of course they have an incredible collection of all kinds of art-everything from Ancient Egyptian artifacts to Medieval musical instruments to French Impressionist landscapes. I can't think of any other museum I've been to that is quite so diverse. Obviously, if you really love art you will most likely love this place, but even if you're not that into art, it is worth checking out if you are in New York. It's one of those landmarks that everyone should see at least once.
Pros: great collections, not too expensive (it's by donation), you'll probably find something new every time
Cons: can be crowded, hard to navigate, staff is not very friendly or helpful
