Review content:
I recently dined at August with my wife and four friends and we had a great evening among ourselves and our wine until the end. We were told by the owner that our group was being ?annoying? and were told to be quiet. Enjoying the company of friends and fine wines is apparently not allowed within August BYOB. It surprised me that they allowed another table to sing Happy Birthday to a guest, but it turned out the guest was the chef. This small piece of information alone suggests that the owner is hypocritical at best and arrogant at worst for telling our group that we were being loud and annoying while they sing Happy Birthday at the top of their lungs. What my group finds annoying are small BYOB owners who think they are hot shots. We also find small BYOB owners who think they are hot shots and produce bad food annoying. Selections we found unappetizing were the overcooked pork chop with oily broccoli rabe, tilapia overpowered with lemon and the self proclaimed Italian restaurant overcooking bowtie pasta. I have a few suggestions for the hot shot owner. First, she should enroll her chef in some cooking classes. If you are overcooking pasta in an Italian restaurant there is something wrong. Second, she should enroll herself in some basic business etiquette courses. She seems to have forgotten that her patrons keep her doors open and when she continues insulting them the doors will eventually be closed for good. It also slipped her mind that word of mouth travels fast. Six individual?s negative opinion of anything will multiply dramatically over time. She may have gotten mediocre reviews in the past, but eventually worse reviews will follow mine with statements such as ""the stale menu and dark and drab interiors will be the last thing served at this restaurant"". Good luck and we will not see you again.
