My family and I found this place by pure accident. And what a wonderful accident it was. We have been vacationing there for 7 going on 8 years and we couldn't imagine staying anywhere else. There are quite a few places in town to stay, but they are noisy and crowded. Smugglers offers that ""off the beaten path"" feeling. It's very clean, from the rooms to the pool. A new management team has taken over. At first we were concerned, as the previous team was quite satisfactory. Well, let me tell you, I have never stayed anywhere that had a management staff like this place. Toni, the manager, is the most accomodating, friendly, and genuine person that I have ever encountered that ran a motel. No matter what time of day or night, these people are always there to take care of thier customers. The staff, from housekeepers to groundskeeper to handymen will stop whatever they are doing to help any of their guests. In summary: I can't imagine that there is a better place to stay in Boothbay. I wouldn't even dare to venture outside of the area as this is possibly the best place that I have ever stayed.
