Review content:
First of all I disagree with the review below by Phillipo. You are exaggerating about this completely. I used Technetron for many years and they have been around for many years in business & are a factory authorized McIntosh repair center. McIntosh just doesn't use any random Joe schmoe to fix their products. Let's start by asking you how old is your McIntosh unit??? What really is the condition of the machine?? You have to expect that older equipment does go through wear and tear and certain electrolytic components loose their value over the years like almost any amplifier equipment. Also I believe that you requested an estimate for the repair, which why I can't find why you are shocked to get a call for the diagnoises!!! You also state that the machine has a short-circuit what do you think it just miracelly happened... Obviously the unit has wear and the unit has electrical failure of some sort...
Technetron knows what they are doing, and everyone has the right to shop around. But knowing from experience if you send the unit into McIntosh it very costly for shipping alone, and McIntosh labor rates are also high hourly.... like any older amps labor is costly and very time consuming with amplifiers. I believe that you sir are a scrupulous penny pincher and a wisenheimer..... If you know better than why don't you fix the machine yourself...?? Like any industry when you own expensive items you needtomake sure you can afford both to buy it and have money to fix it. As far as Technetron is concerned they are very honest and have an excellent repair reputation with many high-end audio manufacturers.
