I left Hartford in 1981, and whenever someone now tells me that they've just eaten at the best sandwich place, I tell them they haven't, unless they are talking about the Franklin Grinder shop. From when I was driving an ambulance in Hartford to when I was a VP at a local bank, whenever I was hungry, I headed to the Franklin Grinder Shop. I now live in one of the food capitals in the U.S. (San Francisco) and I too have found nothing that compares. So glad it is still there (over 50 years I believe)!
