Review content:
I first came into contact with this group many years ago when I was active in the IC Jaycees, but years pass and we grow older and my contacts dwindles until they were so old I doubted my own recollection! Until a few weeks ago when my pre-teen son and 2 of his friends wanted to visit the Haunted Barn the NL Jaycees sponsor every year. Feeling somewhat nostalgic perhaps,. my husband and I agreed to chauffeur the boys to the barn and await their return afterward. I was immediately impressed with the set up of the waiting area. Not only did they have persons milling around (some in costume) to make sure things ran smoothly but they were fun and joking with the crowd, getting them all worked up for the barn ahead. After a wait of about 20 minutes (it was semi-busy being early in the evening) the boys returned, giddy with excitement and full of stories as to what occurred in the barn! I was impressed....if something as simple as a haunted barn could affect 3 pre-teen boys the way it did it must be good! Later I spoke to some other parents who also agreed that the barn was a great addition to the holiday and that the Jaycees did a fantastic job every year on the house...making it better with passing time! I also discovered that not only do they host the haunted barn but they are active in other community events and they host a number of other activities for kids and adults alike throughout the year...never wavering in their great attitudes and enthusiasm. My opinion here would be to contact this group and check out a meeting...it sounds to me (and appears as well) that they are doing a great job of serving the community and as far as I am concerned that is what Jaycees should be all about. ...and until next Halloween....Happy Haunting!
