I am a Citysearch Employee. I decided to visit Savannah at the spur of the moment last past week. The weather was beautiful, all of the rooms in Historic Downtown Savannah were booked for the entire weekend. Tybee Island is close and we had plans on going to the beach early Sunday morning for a swim before the crowds arrived. When we called to check on availability we were advised that they had one room left. They were not taking reservations. It was 1st come 1st serve basis. We were advised that it was a smoking room. Having exhausted all other possibilities we couldnt take the chance of not having a room at all so we drove out to Tybee Island. Upon arrival the exterior appeared to be kept up and well maintained. The hotel is a very short distance from the restaurants, boardwalk and beach. I asked if I could go up and peek into the room. I have stayed in some hotels and no matter how much your clean, disinfect and deodorize the smell of smoke will alwys remain in the air. The room did not reek of smoke. The air conditioner was on full blast when we arrived so it kept the air some what fresh. After going out and returning for the night we wanted to turn off the AC and enjoy the breeze from the back door. When going into the bathroom there was hair in the sink and tub. The tub did not drain properly and I found myself standing in two inches of water. The bathroom floor and sink area looked as if it had not been cleaned in several days. Once the room warmed up it smelled damp and stuffy somewhat like a locker room. I did not feel comfortable when I got out of the shower. I kept my flip flops on the entire time I was in the hotel room and used the bath towels as area rugs. I do not recommend this hotel. The price was that of a 5 star hotel. The only good feature is the location. Pros: Close to beach and boardwalk Cons: Outdated and
