Review content:
My oven door wouldn't open. We pulled and tweaked, but could NOT open the door. Our landlord's appliance and drain insurance company sent out the 2 guys from Active Appliance - we had no choice. On the up side, they showed up within the specified time frame. That's the extent of the up side. It went quickly downhill from there. First of all - it was a warm day and I can appreciate that these guys do hard work, but SHEESH! The odor that came in with these two was unbearable. One was the worker and the other one just seemed to be the watcher. I stood and watched as the ""tech"" yanked and yanked at the oven door. When that failed, he yanked it upward as if he was trying to slide the door out from the top. He used much more force than we had when we were trying to open it. Finally he removed the entire door and said the hinges were broken and he had to find new ones. In between all of this, he had taken several calls on his cell phone and yelled at his callers. He asked for his 60.00 service fee and I wrote him a check. He said he'd try to find the replacement hinges and would call me. I called Active Appliances on the 6th day to get an update and was told that the landlord's insurance would not cover it because the ""tech"" reported that I broke the door!!!! After I stood there and watched him yank it every which way to Sunday! So now I have no door AT ALL on the oven. It's sitting on the kitchen floor where the ""tech"" left it. I get the feeling that he knew when they left that day that he was never going to come back. If you call Active Appliance on your own, you're probably okay. I think they intentionally ream the folks who are going through the insurance companies. If you're forced to use them - stock up on room deodorizer and record the ""tech"" on videotape for when you get blamed for breaking your appliance yourself. I wish I had!
