Be careful when selecting a moving company especially this one. I chose CNYX because they were the cheapest, at least I thought so. The so-called estimator came to do an inventory and gave me ""NOT TO EXCEED"" amount. Being naive, I believed that. (Read the contract thoroughly and make sure the estimator records EVERY thing, and it would be helpful to have the majority of your items boxed.) The day the movers came and loaded the truck, they charged me $1800 over the guaranteed amount. And since it was already loaded and my lease was up, I had to accept. They need to get a new estimator. I trusted his experience. Now the movers who loaded the truck did a good job trying to pack in my stuff as tight as possible. They base the rate on cubic feet and the truck is marked to establish volume. I don't blame the movers, but the estimator. If he was competent at his job, I would have been better informed of the cost and would not have had ""sticker shock"" the day of the move. Now I am having problems with the claims department because my computer was damaged and they will only agree to pay $.60 per pound...$16.80 for a bill which was $440 due to a cracked fan and corrupt hard drive from being dropped. Consider buying insurance over what they offer. Also the movers who delivered my stuff were disorganized, didn't know how to store boxes, couldn't read the color-coded labels I affixed to each box as to where it belonged. I had kitchen boxes in the garage, living room boxes in the kitchen, etc. And they didn't know how to put together any furniture that the other movers dismantled. I had to take it apart and put it back together correctly. Is this what I paid for? To top it off, last night my bed collapsed because they failed to put it together correctly and didn't tighten any of the screws. Just be careful before you choose.
