Review content:
Had dinner in the new Paco's Taco & Tequila this weekend and was surprised on how good the experience was. We sat outside on their small patio which was pleasant, and the waitstaff was very attentive and aimed to please.
We started off with the queso, which was different than normal quesos. This queso appeared to be a little different than usual queso's and seemed to have a hint of cheddar, which added some new flavors to a typically monotone queso. The complimentary salsa and chips are great. Chips were salted perfectly and the salsa had a unique spice to it unlike other commercial salsas i've had recently.
As far as the menu goes, it's fairly deep. Enough to please everyone. Quesadillas, Tacos, Fajitas, Traditional tex-mex plates...etc. I had the two taco meal; one steak with guacamole, onions and cheese, it was fantastic. But...The taco to try is definitely ""Paco's Taco"". This slow cooked spicy beef brisket taco is off the charts. You get a huge helping of extremely juicy and tender meat in a tortilla of your choice (homemade flour or corn) with BBQ sauce and onions topped with queso fresco. Huge thumbs up there. The side dishes are interchangeable as well so I decided to opt for the BBQ corn and red rice. Both full of flavor and well worth it to try. Tacos also come with a small portion of slaw which is a nice touch.
They claim to be a tequila bar as well, and on this side, they do fulfill. I think I saw over 20 tequilas on their menu. On Friday's they have $10 Tecate buckets.
My only real disappointment, there really wasn't that many tacos to chose from. With a name Paco's Tacos, you'd think that there would be more than 5 or 6 tacos. I understand that if you give people too many choices, it could intimidate people, but I'd suggest adding a couple more tacos, maybe even a build your own taco, that would be a new concept for me at a sit down restaurant.
