I got a double helix piercing here about three months ago, and I cannot imagine having a better experience. The first thing I noticed was how many people were there, many more than I would have expected for seven o'clock on a Saturday. People were just hanging out-- browsing artwork and the jewelry for sale, even just playing pool. It was a very casual atmosphere that made even a newbie like me feel comfortable. I'm sixteen, so my mom came with me, and when we walked in we were immediately greeted by Fred. He asked what we were there for, I explained to him what I wanted, and he got us set up with all the paperwork; he even gave us a $20 dollar discount because I was getting two piercings. We sat and watched a pool game while he got set up (most comfortable couches ever, by the way). He came out and got us when he was ready, and took both of us back to the piercing room; it was small but very clean and uncluttered. He had me show him in a mirror where I wanted my piercings, and then had me double check the marks he made (not that it did much good, my hand was shaking too much to hold the mirror still). He showed me the jewelry and the needles he was using, and explained everything as he did it. After I was pierced, he told me about my aftercare options, told us how to reach him for questions, and when I could come back in to have the jewelry changed.
Overall, the entire experience was extremely comfortable. Fred was knowledgeable but casual and joking the whole time, making me feel at ease, and every other staff member I encountered was pleasant. Even my mother, who is completely unfamiliar with piercings and tattoos, was impressed by the studio and the staff. I will definitely be returning here... because after all, those helix piercings are bound to get lonely.
