I purchased a 10 week old Shih Tzu puppy as a replacement for my 16 year old one that recently passed away. The puppy seemed to be fine at first but for a little weezing which I attributed to his age and flat profile. As soon as we came home he started to have yellow discharge comming from his nose. The next day he stopped eating and started to have savere diarhea. I brought him back to the store since they ssured me that a veterinarian will take a look at him and that this is common. In the store he got even worse and was now vomiting. A vet never did see him there. The next day I picked him up from the store and drove him straight to a veterinarian clinic that they recommended. There he was given medication and sent home with me. The next day I returned to the clinic since he was so bad that I could not even give him medication orally. They hospitalized him and diagnosed him with a contagious virus that he could only have contracted prior to me purchasing him. He died in the clinic exactly one week after I purchased him. The store returned the money for the purchase of the puppy but are giving me the runaround on returning the vet bills even though the contract states that they must return all of the vet expenses not exceeding the cost of the dog. The manager of the store grabbed my copy of the contract and refused to give it back, he wanted to rip it up. But for a few descent employees, the store is the most discraceful business that I ever steped my foot in. The manager was rude, did not apoligize for what they put me through, wanted to rip my contract in order to hide the evidence and told me that he was too busy to contact the owner of the store. As if I had nothing better to do other then driving back and forth from place to place every day in order to try and save the puppy. The only offer they made while he was still alive is to exchange him for a new one and send this one back to the breeder where he would be euthenized. Financialy that would be best for them but it is not a pair of jeans which you can exchange for exactly the same one, and so morally it was something that I could not do. It is obvious that their puppies come from puppy mills and that by buying one you are playing odds that are likely not in your favor. As for the contract, they will only look at it if it doesn't cost them money.
