In January of 2005, I decided to look into gastric bypass surgery. There are two places in Evansville that do this. St. Marys is the one I choose.
The staff are very friendly and helpful during your insurance approval process. This can take up to 6 months or longer. There are a lot of tests that a patient must go through so they can be approved for surgery. Most of the time, insurance will pick up the bill. My insurance paid 100%!
This surgery is a life changing event. At 2 months out, I have lost almost 60 pounds!
The staff at the bariatric center do tend to drag their feet some after surgery if you are having some problems. I don't know if this is because they think you are lying, or waiting to see if things develop from there.
Remember, this is your body and you pay them for help; NOT the other way around!
