I did not purchase my dress at Elegant Brides, but I bought some accessories for my wedding & had the alterations to my wedding dress done. I visited the shop on many occasions for fittings and to pick up items. On every visit, the staff was less than professional & sometimes plain rude.
The shop has very attractive window displays & the staff seems to be on top of current trends. The samples are very up-to-date. However, the shop is located on a major road & seems to get a lot of walk-in traffic. The staff does not seem to manage this well. They often walked off in the middle of sticking pins in my dress (with me in it) to go talk to someone who had walked in. They also harped about their marital problems during my fittings & made me feel uncomfortable.
The staff seems to be trying to make their shop seem distinctive & upscale by acting snobby & aloof. They became very non-chalant when it came to prices, receipts, & delivery times. I had to request a written receipt for my alterations on two occasions. Although they were insistent that I make appointments (in the middle of the day) for my fittings, they never began on time. While the shop can order a wide variety of dresses, the shop just isn't big enough to fit many samples. They are jam-packed into the small store. This makes it difficult to browse.
Most of all, I was very shocked at the prices for my alterations. My very simple, un-adorned dress cost in the $400?s. Elegant Brides took more than 2 months to hem my dress, take in the bust, & do the bustle. The charges came to more than $420 for the alterations! I wish I had asked for a written estimate for these charges. I felt like the staff was hostile since I didn?t buy my dress there. I paid for my alterations & then a month later they charged me another $200 for the bustle. I felt forced into paying to have the work done there since they had my dress in pieces in their back room.
Pass on these divas & shop somewhere else!
Pros: Good selection, easily accessible, knowledgeable staff
Cons: Terrible customer service and high prices
