PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT EVER GO TO FAMILY AUTO MART!! I HAVE NEVER IN MY LIFE WRITTEN A BAD COMPLAINT ABOUT ANY COMPANY, BUT I MUST WARN ANYONE WHO HAS EVEN THOUGHT TO VISIT THEM!!!
I drove from Orlando to buy a car from Family Auto Mart in Melbourne,FL . After I purchased the car it broke down on THEIR LOT right before taking it home. When I asked for my money back the manager "Dave" said their mechanic is going to look at the car and fix it, he also said that he wouldn't NEVER SELL A BAD CAR. The mechanic looked at the car for about 5 min and said it just needed a battery (when someone on the lot told us it was a bad fuel pump). So they replaced the battery and cleaned out the fuel tank.
Before leaving "Dave" the manager told me if the car broke down again with the same issue that he would have it taken care of.
Two days later the car broke down again. I towed it to my mechanic and the entire fuel pump unit was a JUNKYARD part and it was no where near what it should have been. I contacted "Dave" at family auto mart and he said he would only pay a portion of the cost to fix it, I had to come up with the rest of the money. I Paid $200 out of my pocket to fix something they told me they would fix.
One week later the transmission blew in the car, avg. transmission ($2000). I towed the car to family auto mart at my own expense, because that is was "Dave" and his co worker "Edwin" instructed me to do. They have been holding my car for 3 WEEKS, and every time I called in the first week they kept telling me their mechanic was extremely busy. Then week two they told me that I would have to pay $850 to fix it. Furious, I refused because they sold me a junk car that I drove less then 1 week. I asked for my money back the refused, so I also asked to be placed into another car. I even offered to let them keep the taxes of $675 I paid on the car if they gave me back my down payment of $1700! They refused everything .
I HAVE CONTACTED MY ATTORNEY AND I WILL BE SUING UNDER FLORIDA LEMON LAW!
