The Life Experiences Thrift Shop is yet another thrift shop to benefit a good cause. Life Experiences provides support and work experiences for developmentally disabled adults. The thrift shop is just one of their “businesses”, which also includes a bakery service (yum!), a janitorial service, a vending machine business, and a laundry service. The shop is quite small, and the dressing room is really a bathroom down the hall in the actual service area. They don’t really have anyone actively monitoring the thrift area, so you’ll probably need to venture into the main area to find an employee. The shop is also quite difficult to find, as it is off the beaten path in sort of a commercial/industrial part of town. The best way to get there is to take Maynard or Cary Parkway to James Jackson Ave and then turn on Towerview and go all the way to the end. It will be on the right. Parking is ample. However, for the hassle, the prices are some of the best in town. If you’re in the area, you won’t regret stopping by.
