Review content:
A phenomenal array of freshly prepared Cajun style seafood dishes with a quaint historical ambiance that is sure to make any special occasion more memorable! The restaurant was named after a river boat captain who docked at Decatur in the 1800's.
The lower level has a casual almost saloon style atmosphere with lots of warm woods, rustic furniture and a well stocked top shelf bar (always important!). The upper level, more formal, features white linens and an elegant feel. Large picture windows overlook historical Bank Street below.
The food is simply superb. All dishes are prepared with fresh, quality ingredients. Even sauces are original recipes - made fresh daily by Simp McGhees' chef a man who I believe has been with the restaurant since its inception.
Simp McGhee's staff is professional and knowledge able about all menu items, down to the most unique wine in the house, and it's obvious that management runs a very tight ship.
In short, Simp McGhee's is a treasure in its own right, a slice of history and delectable cuisine that is not to be missed.
