One of Iowa's best hidden secrets!!!!
You would never know it is there....down gravel roads and surrounded by miles of farmer's cornfields....a house here and there and horses grazing nearby. Yet the sound of the big band drifts by the curious cows and the buzz of the cicadas adds to the mood....definitely step back into time.
Known for the finest dance floor in Iowa and one of the only ballrooms still left in the country with the original dance floor and years of history to go with it. There are dances every Sunday from 5-10. Arrive early and they offer lessons. Live band music includes polkas and waltzes. The history here includes Dizzy Gilespie and Billie Holiday just to name a few! They serve food and house two bars for refreshments. It is family owned and even caters for weddings and special events. The prices are very reasonable compared to Des Moines and the service is personable....everybody knows everybody. Worth the 20 minute drive from Des Moines.
Also open on some Fridays and Saturdays. Call for the recorded schedule. A unique experience hidden in the corn!
