Review content:
Convenient to south-enders but lacking in customer service. Sales folks are not knowledgeable about the products they sell, even basics like dog food. When asked the primary difference between the brands and what they would recommend for our dog we were told that they weren't sure and that each has different ingredients and that we should get whatever our dog likes to eat. Great thanks. We subscribed to their reward program which gives you $ savings for each $100 spent. When we reached $100 in sales we were told that we couldn't deduct our reward from that purchase and that we had to wait until next time. When we went next time they told us they stopped their reward program and we couldn't use it. We had to negotiate with the sales woman to be able to use our reward credit. Most retailers that have a reward program still let you use your remaining reward when they discontinue their programs. We also bought a bag of dog food that when we opened had an insect and nest in the food. They did let us exchange it with no hassle. It seems like half the time we go there no one is at the counter and they are downstairs or in a storage closet. We end up yelling "hello, hello" to get someone to help us or check us out. It's not such a big deal but it is annoying and is just one more thing that detracts from our shopping experience. We had considered some of the other places offered by the same company such as Doggie Day, but our experience at the Pet Shop Girls has turned us off for good and we certainly wouldn't trust them watching our pooch! We really wanted it to work because it close to where we live which is why we kept going back even after the bad experiences. In the end, I think it was the reward program that kept us shopping there, and now that it's gone so are we.
Pros: Good natural food selection
Cons: Lacking in customer service and knowledgeable employees
