My boyfriend and I went to Geoffrey's for his birthday. I made the 7:30 reservation a week and a half in advance and asked for a great table. They told me they couldn't guarantee it but I took my chances anyway. We arrived 15 minutes early for our reservation, the hostess didn't even bother with a smile or a hello, just a mean glance and a curt inquiry as to whether we had a reservation. Then she told us we'd still have to wait about 1/2 hour. I discreetly asked her to remind whoever our server would be for a dessert w/ a candle for my bf's birthday and the hostess acted annoyed. We checked back in 20 minutes and were rudely told that that we could just wait in the bar until there was a table available. No apology, no nothing. But we did anyway, and didn't end up getting seated till 8:15, 45 minutes after our reservation time and an hour after we had gotten there. Table was ok, but nobody even came by for at least 10 minutes. When waiter finally came, he acted like he was miserable and couldn't wait to get out of there. Like how dare he had to work. I actually felt bad for ordering a drink, then had to remind myself that duh, I was at a restaurant! There was no kindness or courtesy or any effort to make the experience special. We should have left right then, but I guess like a bad movie, you keep hoping it'll get better. We finally got our food (the chicken and the lobster), and the plates were dropped in a hurry, not even a "enjoy." The chicken was dry and tasteless, the lobster ok but for close to $50 I expected bigger and better -- nothing to write home about. Our waiter didn't check back on us till we were almost done with our food, by which time it was too late to ask for the extra side we had wanted to order. And to top it all off, he forgot the birthday dessert (or was not told by the hostess). For rude or no service and less than ok food you could do better somewhere else.
Pros: The view is bomb but you're better off just having drinks.
Cons: The food and the "service." They make you feel like you're bothering them.
