This place is a wonderful trip into the old days. It's a simple cafeteria fare in that you walk down the line and choose what you want- but man, what food to choose from. Everything is home-style, southern cooking, and delicious. From fried chicken to creamed corn, from corn bread to chocolate pie (the *best* chocolate pie I ever had). Then you arrive at a register, they ring up your order, hand you the receipt- and a gentleman in black pants, a tux shirt and vest, and bow tie will take your plain plastic tray full of food from you, lead you to a table, and provide you impeccable service- simple, but perfect. Pointing to his nametag, my last server said "See that? Skip. I'm Skip. If you need anything, you call Skip." And Skip told no lies; his service was perfect. The dining room is white tablecloths on small wood tables in the midst of a large room covered floor to ceiling with artwork from various local artists. If you like the artwork, you can buy it- most of them have prices on them, as I remember. It's very relaxed, andeveryone is so polite. This place is a marvelous trip back to the way things used to be. It's also a good place to take the kids, in my opinion- they can see how courteous people *should* behave in public.
