We received a letter in the mail stating that, " In December, the Georgia Department of revenue tax division conducted an audit of our sales tax collecting practices. We were under the understanding that our freight, set up, and prep charges were tax exempt...We were fined as a company a substantial penalty for not knowing the rules, but our agreement with the state means that there will be no penalties for you as the purchaser. We have agreed to collect the taxes on this outstanding amount and forward it to the state on your behalf...The total amount of outstanding taxes owed by is only _____, but the state is firm on the position...." After speaking with a lawyer and the GA dept. of revenue and the case manager who audited them: AS A Consumer, we are not responsible for this amount. The dept of revenue actually said that they were only trying to collect the money to help offset their fines!!! IF one did in fact owe the dept of revenue- they would send you a letter themselves- NOT Camden Motorsports.
