Tom has been the vocal coach at Google for over 4 years now, and the scope of challenges his coaching addresses continues to grow. He began by coaching our training teams with voice lessons so our courses would be more dynamic. Google's training innovations were written up in Fast Company in an article called "Training Secrets from the Googleplex", and Tom was truly integral to the energy and spark that underscored our techniques. Executives, marketing managers, and sales people also work with Tom before key sales presentations and PR opportunities. Tom works with our internal "voice talent" before they record trainings that are used by thousands of Googlers. Universally, people remark to me "that was the most productive hour I have spent in a long time!" after their session with Tom. They are smitten by both his enthusiastic personality and his techniques which make an immediate difference. But vocal quality can only take us so far, and we have started engaging Tom earlier in the process of developing major trainings. He now advises us on the storyline, borrowing from his experiences coaching HBO casts and being in theater to bring dramatic techniques to our work. Personally, Tom has helped me find my "inner Oprah", and given me vocal license to experiment and really be myself with the audience. Tom is more than just a vocal coach and speech pathologist, because he takes the time to really understand my goals and make specific, insightful suggestions that quickly improve my approach.
