Les Halles is French, but not high-falutin' French. It's the sort of place that is on the corner throughout Paris (except for the Left Bank where the corners all seem to be pizza shops). French basics are served simply and without pretention: steak frites, mussels, duck confit, roast chicken, cassoulet, charcoutre.
I think this place is always be open whether it is 3 in the afternoon or 11 at night, 7 days a week, seemingly always. It's sort of like a French diner, always there. Do not expect fancy glassware or fancy silverware or to be somehow blown away. Do expect basic honest food.
If you're not hungry, hang out at the bar. It's never packed and yet there is always something happening.
It's sort of a neighborhood place, but a Parisian neighborhood.
Pros: Always open, your basic standby
Cons: Limited menu
