Hell! my advise go to
www.protectyourmove.gov and the www.BBB before listening to this crooks. We are scarred for life- our life things and hirelooms were damaged - its not even the money they charged us, the things are priceless. I hate them.
On the actual day of the move I had less items for the move than had been originally calculated by our agent. That said, upon finishing moving our items from our apartment to the truck, the foreman suggested we actually owed more money. We spoke over the phone with some woman who urged me that we did indeed owe more, that we had received an incorrect quote, and as a result, we would not receive a discount (which should have been the proper adjustment) but then telling us as a courtesy we would not be charged more.
I was also told that my boxes weren't "real" boxes. They had mentioned that Infinity boxes were the only "real" moving boxes I should' have used. Not only are Home Depot boxes considered standard moving boxes, but they come highly recommended by many moving companies. I did not buy them or grab them from a random store, they were brand new.
When my girlfriend's mother asked one of the movers why the boxes labeled bedroom weren't put in the bedroom, we were explained that Infinity doesn't put boxes in their appropriate place. If a box is labeled Bathroom, Living Room, or Bedroom it doesn't matter, all boxes are left in the living room and I would have to put them in their appropriate place. This led the movers to put many "100 lb" boxes stacked on top of each other, on my couch, my dining table, etc... That is unacceptable. The only reason anything was put in another room was if I told the movers to do it, and I had to ask many times.
Bed screws were left behind and not screwed in. Once the employee's noticed this they still did nothing about it, leaving the screws behind. I also noticed when I went to sleep on my bed that night that the bed was actually not put back together properly. The employee who put my bed back together just left pieces of it on the floor hidden under the bed.
All my china and gifts from my parents in Japan were broken- even though the boxes were marked fragile and glass. Some were opened and I think they were going through our stuff. I feel violated and worse that things we got from my parents are destroyed and that was the last gifts we got from them. They can never replace them, with money
The level of service we received was unacceptable - broken items, broken furniture, and extremely rude and poor service. This situation is the type of worst-case scenario for a person who is planning on moving across the country. I reported to the BBB , DOT and now writing my reviews- nobody deserves this kind of abuse- had I gone to BBB to no ratings and or the DOT complaints- I could have been better off renting a truck. Nightmare I still have to date.
