Review content:
The Town Shop is definitely an Upper West Side institution. You can't miss its soft pink exterior on 81st and Broadway, and upon entering the store, you're surrounded by the muted pastel colors of bras, lingerie, slippers, and yes, even more bras. The store has been on Manhattan's Upper West Side since 1936, and up until her death in 2003, owner Selma Koch (her children now own and run the store) was the grand dame of the bra trade. Reportedly she could look at a woman and tell her what size bra she should wear!
I was in the Town Shop recently and was impressed by their selection. They have incredibly helpful and knowledgeable saleswomen, who generally are very patient. They even had a great sale on bathing suits which I of course *had* to take advantage of, and any and alterations are for free. Although their prices are steep, you'd be hard pressed to find another store with such a great selection and loyal following.
