"Wonderful place. Fresh eggs, bacon and baked goods originate in a small kitchen to the side. Pies and cakes near the fron get your mouth watering. Charming seating area. Good coffee." That was my original review. Lately, though, I've started to take my breakfasts at Square Diner (same neighborhood, up a couple blocks). While S/D's coffee is inferior, their French Toast and sausage are far, far superior of late, and the value can't be beat. My expectations of Kitchenette run pretty high, almost as high as their prices. The grapefruit juice alone would bankrupt a single mother. My last meal there, a breakfast of french toast with strawberries, bacon, and the aforementioned juice, ran close to $20 with tip! Apart from the cost, the french toast was flat-out DREARY!! -- a bit flattened, not glistening with just-made freshness. I don't even recall it being that hot. The bacon was whatever, inferior to the stuff at Good Enough to Eat uptown. And of course, there was the jeweler's choice juice. I don't know if it's still worth it.
