Businiess name:  230 Fifth Rooftop Bar

Review content:
It's taken me a while to post my review of 230 fifth Rooftop--mostly because it was such an excellent experience that I wanted to make sure I gave it the well-written 5 star review it deserves. Disclaimer: I have only been to this rooftop once, and I am not a native of NYC I came to NY on a business trip alone a few months ago. As someone who had never been to the City I decided to cram my schedule back-to-back FULL of things to do and places to see. I even made a list of the top 10 bars and eateries to try. Well, needless to say, all this excessive planning didn't turn out so well, and by mid-day on my FIRST day there, I was exhausted. Exhausted, as in, I had walked about 200 blocks that morning non-stop, and simply could. not. go. any. further. And as any tourist knows, excessive tourism and the "I'm on a trip so I'll eat as much as I goddamn want to" mentality is a fantastic recipe for becoming RAVENOUS. Enter 230 Fifth . I knew it had to be relatively decent because of the line down the block. Since I was alone, the doorman let me skip to the front of the queue and let me in almost immediately (VIP baby!). Plus, they were gracious and friendly and I didn't feel awkward about being a solo lady at the bar I was a tiny bit bummed though because I really wanted to sit at the crazy-looking pink elephant on the roof but that table was taken. I wonder whats the stpry behind the pink elephant. Considering how much I ate, it is probably a good thing I wasn't seated there, now that I think about it. The menu caused me both delight and anxiety, because I realized that I wanted to order EVERYTHING, but was limited by my tight pants and my within-reason business expense allowment. (Next time, I'm coming in jogging pants...) I ended up ordering the the rompli burger and calamari, though the people next to me got some cool looking asian salads , and those looked pretty darn fabulous, too. I normally don't listen much to the the background music , but I was the 80's music def got my attention and i actually sang along to many of the songs! The food came out piping hot in a somewhat asian-looking plastic dish (with no side options, veggies, or garnishes). But what it lacked in presentation was made up for in taste. the calamari was amazing and the burger was sheer perfection. Also, I personally adore salty flavors, but if you are not fond of that, I would recommend avoiding this dish, because it is saltier than the Dead Sea. Anyways, I am pretty sure I licked the whole thing clean. The peer drink i ordered was perfect. However , their specialy drink 'Side Car" was heaven like! felt like i was floating on top of the sky pure pleasure. Bonus points for the friendly host who came along and gave me detailed directions to touristy stuff and personal recommendations on bars. I think he spent a good 20 minutes at my table. Little things like that really improve the experience, I think. ALSO--and this is probably the best thing -- you absolutely must come here on a warm summer evening for cocktails. The drink menu is awesome, and apparently they have the largest ROOF DECK (ummm, YES!) in NYC! and in the winter they provide red robes and heat lamps yes please! Basically, next time I'm in this amazing city , this is my go-to place for brunch, lunch, and evening drinks.
