My daughter had her second visit here and is terrified of going to the dentist. One of the assistants came to speak to my daughter in the waiting room and told her to come with her and I would wait there. Knowing my daughter, I knew if she was going to comply with her, I would have to be there. If she tried to take her in there, she would just bolt for the door! She took one step inside the place and started to cry and pull my hand towards the exit. I had done all the preparations recommended to me to get her to feel comfortable to go to the dentist and it just didn't work. The assistant knelt down and started telling my daughter what she had to do in a stern tone. I mean it seemed kind of ridiculous since the kid was crying and screaming..do you think she was listening? I took my daughter outside and tried all the techniques that have proven successful in the 4 years of her life but she is a strong-willed child and I knew at this point she wasn't going to give in. I bring her back in and the assistant says to me, "so Mom is she going to sit in the chair?" I said something like "well it doesn't look like she will today." She said , "you know it is up to you whether she complies or not." She had this look on her face like she was really mad. What did she want me to do? Hog tie her down? Spank her into compliance in the bathroom? Promise her a shopping spree at Toys R Us? I was trying to get her to sit in the chair etc. by talking to her since the minute she started getting upset. I was trying to get her to stop crying and relax but she was adamant. So I wasn't just standing there letting my daughter have a fit. Nor am I a very lenient parent that lets their kid get away with bad behavior. However, that lady really upset me and because of her we won't be going there again nor would I recommend it to others. But Dr. Hogan is nice and has a busy office, I just thought that people should be aware of this other lady. Honestly I think this lady put my kid off going to the dentist since she is the first person they met and interacted with there. My child does not have this reaction anywhere else (doctor visits, day care). Pros: nice office, friendly dentist and front desk Cons: one of the assistants
