Emerge deserves its reputation! The receptionists are friendly and polite, and very helpful with booking services. They'll give you the inside scoop on the strengths of each stylist, and are frank about prices and services. No pretense here, just incredible customer service. Linda did an amazing job on my color. I'm a brunette, and came in with a brassy, old highlight job that washed me out. I also had an old "razor cut" that made the ends of my hair look "fried". Linda hand-mixed four different "cool browns", and only charged me for one process (a mere $65!). I couldn't believe how fantastic I looked. She also does a great texturizing cut, sans razor, for $75, which gave my fine hair a new life without the damage. Linda also suggested several Kerastase treatments to help my hair, and was extremely low pressure about adding services or selling products. I said "yes" to a Kerastase strengthening treatment forf $35 (half off with a color service). While at Emerge, I also opted for a brow maintenance by Rebecca. The 2nd Floor waiting area has a complimentary spa with coffee, tea, fruit and rice cracker munchies. There is also a sauna, steam and locker room for use by any of the guests, with complimentary use of some great skin and body products (good way to try before you buy!). The waiting area was clean, elegant and quiet, and even getting a $25 brow service was an experience. Speaking of the brow service, Rebecca is very skilled and friendly. She will keep you talking and relaxed while taming even the most unruly brows! I will definitely book with her again. Finally, at the end of my experience, I received a $25 gift certificate for my next service, just for being a first-time customer. I have been to almost every salon on Newbury, and Emerge is the best yet. I recommend it on the highest terms possible. Pros: low pressure, great value, fantastic customer service, skilled stylists Cons: bathroom in the nail area has an awkward sliding door - use the one upstairs in the salon!
