If you're new to the East Bay or just haven't been to the Alameda County Library yet, the very first thing you should do is head to one of the 10 branches scattered throughout Alameda County and get yourself a library card. In addition to sporting an incredible collection of books, magazines, newspapers, cassettes, CDs, DVDs and movies, the library also sponsors a wide array of community events including everything from homework help and legal advice to knitting clubs and sing-a-longs. Also, for convenience, use their website www.aclibrary.com to reserve materials (such as books, DVDs and CDs) and have them delivered to your local branch. You are notified via email when your materials are available so you'll never have to waste a trip.
