I tried this place when it first opened up, and it's fairly new (7/05). Their "famous" seafood and poboys is really nothing much. The batter they use on their fried seafood, including in the poboy, doesn't really have a cajun flavor. They give you a choice of 5 sauces to flavor it, but it's not the same. They do have a tempting weekday offer w/ $1 appetizers, but they are really nothign special. Plus they don't include the oyster appetizer as a $1 selection. Their fried cheese grits are pretty good as is their gator taco. Their fries are homemade and tasty too. But if you want a poboy, go to Pappadeux and split one w/ a friend, because their's is 2x as big as AJ's. Give AJ's a shot on their $1 deal tho, Mon-Thurs 2-5pm.
