I wish i could rate it 10 out of 5 stars... The Salvation Army's Star Lake Music Camp is such a special place to me. The campers are all there to play music to God, they all have a common goal, they all have something in common, and they all get along as a result of that. I have been a camper there twice, playing cornet the the bands, and my dad went there before me as a kid, so we both have some great memories of the place. Its amazing the great friends i made there in a week, many of whom were better than the friends i've made at school during my lifetime. The campers and staff that go are from, well... everywhere. They have staff from the US and all over Europe, and campers from US, Europe, and even Korea. For many people it is their escape from life at home, which may not be ideal for many of the campers. For me, its a place for fellowship, friendship, and overall fun. Star Lake is part of the reason that i enjoy playing my instrument so much. The campers' age varies from young (somewhere around 12) to the late teen years (and later for a select few campers!). For anyone reading this that may may be interested, i highly reccomend it. If you are interested, simply talk to the corps officer of your local Salvation Army, if they don't know, they can pass you on to someone like Bandmaster Ron Waiksnorris (music program director for SLMC), or someone from another territory who knows more about it. One of the most memorable things from camp... "The Star Lake Pep Song".... Hail Star Lake Camp!
