Hello, I was approached in home depot for a “free in home, no obligation water test...that if i choose to buy a system after the test that home depot is offering 0% interest right now.” The salesman “Kurt” came to our house and after a 3 hour (no i am not exaggerating) test/presentation my wife and i agreed to buy it ($5000 water softener). There was to be a 3 day cancelation policy with installation a week later (august 2008). The paperwork we signed however did not mention the 0% promotion rate, and when i asked him why it didnt he said it was a new promotion, which is why he had to call in our info. That the standard application was all that he had, and it was for the companies files. He went on to say that we should try it, if were not happy after a few months that they would take it back. Right after we signed the papers, the salesman make a phone call after which he verbally told us that we did qualify for the 0% promotion and that an installer was in the neighborhood and could install it today. I tried it for a month and didn't notice any difference. That is when i got my first bill from “Aqua Finance Inc”...with 17% interest! When i called i was basically told it was too bad, that i signed and am liable to pay them. I believed the salesman about the zero percent because Home depot has the home depot credit card promotion brochures within the pockets of the rainsoft cardboard display. Anyway, the system hasn't worked since day one. I just learned that the system is not installed properly as the power adapter wires are “exposed to the elements” and that it is a “fire hazard”. On top of that, the power adapter used is 120V and says for use “indoors only”. The rainsoft installer connected it to the existing sprinkler pump electric which is a 230V electrical connection. I have what amounts to a $5000 piece of junk thanks to rainsoft. It has been a year now and my advise to you is to stay away from Rainsoft, their dealer “hydro engineering inc”, and “Aqua Finance Inc.” Thanks for reading and God bless.
