Review content:
Agree with some of the preivous reviews on the lousy service. I work and live in Downtown Manhanttan. Having spent thousands here for its "convenience" (e.g. towels, linen), I was almost accused of "stealing" on April 28,2011.
Story is I went there to pick up some long gym pants after work. I got two identical pairs. But at the register the cashier (Walter) rang two differnt prices. I with all integrity asked him to check. 15 minutes later, a security guard (his name tag reads “Matthew J.”) showed up and pulled me aside asking how a price tag of a pairt of shorts got on to one of the long pants I picked. I was completely humiliated in front of so many other curstomers. You don’t have be told “you are stealing” in yoru face – and that’s exactly the intonation of his question leading to.
Then, he asked me to follow him to a private office in the lowest floor. I stepped in front of him and was told to “follow” him ONLY. Am I a crinimal or what? Another African American man showed up and both wanted to take me to the private office. I refused to – as a petite Asian woman, I don’t feel comfortable going in somewhere with two big man. I pleaded them to call police or pull out the vedio tapes, which they refused. At the end, the Afriacan Amercan man told me to leave “HIS” store. Is this how you treat a customer who spent all these money over the years?
I then spoke with the store manager, Joyce, who baiscally told me they are just doing their job. Nothing else she can do. Yeah, you are right … I kept wondering whether all these happened because I am an Asian, a minority? Would someone ask to double check the prices if she/he wants to cheat on a price tag?
I have a well paid job, comepltely clean record and a superior credit store, Thanks Century21 for giving me the MOST humiliating experiecne of my life. I couldn’t sleep for nights and it painfully angers me how I was treated for someone else’s mistake, intentional or not. When it comes to my integrity, I can’t let go so easily.
I will NEVER go there again. Not even close!!! I am also writing to the Better Business Bureau and C21 Headquarters.
