Review content:
I went to Pacific Tanning once, the only time I ever have gone to a tanning salon. I explained I had no idea what to do, and that I just wanted a moderate tan to get me through the summer. The single staff member wanted me to go for 7 minutes in some stand up device. Naive with these devices as I am, I accepted. Upon getting into the machine, I find a large warning indicating a 10(!) minute maximum. I go out and tell the staff member, I think I should get a lower time. So we do 5 minutes. I am sunburned. Be careful. With such dangerous devices, the staff should help you decide what regiment is most appropriate for your skin type. The instructions they give you should not contradict the manufacturer's warnings or instructions. The place is nice, the equipment is nice, and the location is great. I fear however that whoever owns this venture has not trained their staff sufficiently. I would also be wary of these reviews. I highly doubt the average park sloper could ever be so enthusiastic about a tanning salon, especially one with such a horrible sign above the neighborhood's best bar (Barbes). Rather than have the staff or owners write personal attacks towards this one negative review as well as these ridiculously exuberant reviews, I would expect an honest admission of failure and a statement that practices have changed. Pros: Clean, tasteful decor, new equipment Cons: Clueless staff
