Review content:
Don’t let the name confuse you. Sushi Kai is more than just sushi. It offers a range of tastefully done, contemporary Japanese dishes with a local flair. My favorite dishes include the soft shell crab salad, which features a light and tangy dressing and the macadamia nut-crusted mahi mahi. I was less impressed with the shrimp with black bean sauce, which was too bland for my taste.
One other problem, and it warranted a repeat trip to verify that we weren’t imagining it: the acoustics in the restaurant were terrible. It was probably due to the small size of the building as well as the hard floors, which cause even normal conversation to be amplified. Unfortunately, we could barely carry a conversation at our table due to the ambient noise and it made it difficult to converse with the staff.
