Review content:
I went to Planet Rose last night and had a blast! As you walk in, the bar is on the right and the area in front of the bar is narrow, then the bar opens up into a large "living room" with zebra printed couches on the perimeter of a square room, with round coffee tables in front to hold drinks. There are small tv's in the ceiling corners so you can either sing from your seat or stand and walk around a bit in the room. The song selection is the best I've found in the City, with a very substantial show-tune section, and new additions sheets fitted in. The crowd last night was young, energetic, and fun! They were celebrating a friend's birthday. The female bartender kept the bar lively, singing herself, and blew fire from her mouth to entertain the crowd. The bar was crowded but smallish so the wait to sing was not long. Planet Rose offers a free song with the first drink, which were $7 each last night. After that, songs are $2 each. I was reluctant to post this review for fear of adding to the crowds but Planet Rose earned it. [As an aside, the Mexican restaurant across the street serves excellent fresh, homemade guacamole, made at your table.]
Pros: Great song selection; decent sound system; hip crowd; fun, positive atmosphere
Cons: $2 songs
