Businiess name:  Piece Of Cake

Review content:
I was so excited to order a specialty cake for my 30th birthday, and the pictures online of their cakes looked gorgeous. I was planning to splurge for an expensive cake, but when we went in two weeks before, they told us the cake I wanted would be only 25$. I picked a simple cake, just like one in an online picture with only one change: leaf shapes instead of circles since it was fall. The featured cakes in the display case that day had pretty fondant cut-out leaves, some were red, some yellow, and some orange, all in very deep colors. I asked for those. The woman who took our order was really unhelpful, she didn't suggest anything, even when I asked for popular flavor combinations or if she thought my cake idea would be pretty- they were a bit busy, but I really wanted a baker's opinion. She just kept saying whatever I wanted would be fine and leaving us alone with the book. When I came to pick up the cake I was so sad- again they were busy, so I got to look at it for about five seconds before someone rang me up- they never asked if I was happy with it or anything, but I wasn't! Instead of a smooth iced cake with flat, deep colored autumn leaves covering it and around the sides, it was an irregularly fluffy iced cake, like I might make at home with a regular butter knife and a can of frosting. The fondant leaves were made of tri-colored stripes(!) with really light tints of yellow and orange & red looked almost pink, they had used so little food dye. They were also really curly, and scattered lightly across the top of the cake only- it really looked like someone just sprinkled some on thoughtlessly before closing the box. In short, it looked like something you can buy at Kroger for 7$. It was the one thing I really wanted to give myself for my birthday but they clearly didn't care about my cake. I know it was cheap, but the point is I would have happily spent 3x that to have a really pretty, professional cake. 2 stars because in fairness, it was delicious.
