Went there on a Tuesday night and was pleasantly surprised to catch the group Brasil Live with the most amazing Brazilian singers I've ever seen.
This Brazilian band is made up of the best pros in NY and they play all the cool Brazilian music hits by my favorite artists. Seu Jorge, Ivete, Sangalo, Tim Maia, Jorge Benjor... you name it, they have on their repertoire. The energy is so high up there, people can't help it but to stand up, dance and party all night.
The Village Underground is located right across the street from the Blue Note on West 3rd street so it's right in the middle of Village and super easy to get to. I was staying at the Hostelling International uptown Manhattan and it was a quick subway ride home. I highly recommend going there on a Tuesday night for an amazing night of Brazilian music fun.
