Bookends in the Kailua Shopping Center took over the space formerly occupied by Honolulu Book Shops. The store carries an eclectic range of books and mixes both new and used titles on its many shelves.
I’ve sometimes found it difficult to find a specific title, but the store’s employees are very friendly and knowledgeable. They will go out of their way to locate a particular title and either direct you to the appropriate shelf or provide you with a way to special order it. This kind of attention is unique to these small, local bookstores and is a refreshing change from the large, generic book chains.
