Being from San Francisco, I've had the opportunity to dine at a few fine restaurants, Chef Keller's French Laundry included. Our dining experience at Per Se has now topped the list of my all time great dining experiences. From the food to the service to the ambiance, it was simply the best. Jimmy, the Sommelier and James, our server were both very friendly and adaptive. By adaptive, I mean they adapted their personalities to fit ours - we are not a pretentious couple but more outgoing. My girlfriend was a bit cold and the host brought her a pashmina which was stored in a beautiful wooden box. Being the last couple in the restaurant we were able to tour the kitchen. . .and exchange waives with Chef Keller on the monitor at the French Laundry. Yes, you pay for this kind of evening but you don't need to do it every month - if you only do it once the memory will last a lifetime. And, for a sports fan and foodie, I'd much rather do the 3-4 hours at Per Se than spend a few hours in front row seats at any sporting event. Pros: Food, Service, Ambience, Views of Columbus Circle and Central Park, Sommelier Cons: None
