Review content:
The hospital offers five and six week classes (check the schedule) of a comprehensive childbirth class that introduces prenatal nutrition/health, beginning stages of labor, active pushing phase of labor, labor interventions, postpartum care for mom and baby, caesarean sections, tour of labor and delivery rooms in the hospital and other sections of the maternity ward. Classes are taught by labor and delivery nurses at the hospital so they are very knowledgeable about what is available at the hospital if you are going to have your baby there. They show videos of actual births and class participants practice relaxation and breathing at the end of each class. Pain relief and natural child birth are both covered as options. They encourage the baby to room in with mom and are very supportive of moms who want to breastfeed. Highly recommend this class for first time moms and their coaches! The money is definitely worth the reassurance and information you come away with.
