Businiess name:  Palace Theatres
Review by:  Theresa N.
Review content:
The Palace used to be my favorite place to go to the movies here. I'm from a larger city, and am used to the Tinseltown theaters. The Palace was more like T-Town, with a smaller town vibe. Recently, the theater was sold to a new company. Since that happened, the experience is starting to sour. First, the movies. This theater didn't even carry The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, a movie I was looking forward too for months. I still haven't seen it. The screens are starting to look gritty and choppy. And now there are more commercials than previews at the start of each movie. The slide show is gone. It was annoying, but at least it gave you something to do while you were waiting. The quality of the music piped in is just terrible. People who are there to see a horror movie don't want to listen to country music. A lot of times, the movie volume is too low to hear what's going on, and the sound quality just isn't there. I do like that the popcorn area has a 'fixin's bar' of sorts with different toppings for your popcorn. But the prices have raised on concessions while the quality has gone down. I always get a cotton candy. I'm not going to anymore. There is no variety to the flavors anymore, and it's CRUNCHY! Spin the sugar a little longer, fellas. They also stopped serving Diet Mountain Dew, which is what flows in my husband's veins instead of blood. Diet Pepsi is the only diet drink choice, and that is just wrong. They are serving their drinks in awful cheap cups that seep through and spill easy, and everything there seems to be sticky. (I think those two things are related.) Their employees aren't very friendly either, and will stand around behind the concession stand rather than just say "I can help who's next." Overall, I'm starting to just wait for my On-Demand Services from my cable company to see movies. And Hollywood is wondering why this season is slow? Talk to their theater owners.
