Businiess name:  Island Air
Review by:  Ryan M.
Review content:
Once a part of Aloha Airlines, Island Air was spun off and sold. Island Air provides service to many of the islands' smaller airports such as Kapalua (Maui) and Lanai. Island Air uses a fleet of Dash-8 propeller planes. These are relatively large (for a prop) and comfortable planes that seat up to 37. There is enough room to stand without bending over, and most flights offer the normal in-flight beverage service found on other airlines. There was a period last year (2004) during which Island Air was experiencing long delays due to an expanded schedule and a sudden shortage of planes. That problem seems to have subsided as the company adjusted schedules and placed more planes into service. Tickets tend to be more expensive than comparable roundtrips on the larger carriers -- Hawaiian and Aloha. However, if you need to get to a smaller airport (versus landing at the island's main airport and driving), Island Air's premium can be worth the cost.
