Review content:
Like a previous reviewer, I was surprised the place was mostly empty on a Friday night. There were only a few patrons and the staff seemed more interested in chatting with each other than serving us. We waited 15 minutes before they took our order, and then another 35 to get our meals, which were very simple entrees. We could have (and probably should have) made them in 5 minutes at home, and saved ourselves the $90. We had grilled salmon on a bed of raw spinach, and pan-fried chicken with grilled vegetables. Simple stuff, but completely botched at Tart. The chicken wasn't fully cooked. The vegetables were raw AND dry-- which suggests they'd been lying around in the fridge for a while. The wine was good but definitely poured short. During the time we'd waited, the kitchen could have easily saute'd the spinach, fully cooked the vegetables and chicken, and made it taste like something other than a thaw-out from CostCo. And we're not incredibly picky, either-- hey, we go to CostCo, right? But we're perfectly comfortable at A.O.C. and The Little Door. Sadly, while at Tart, we glanced wistfully across the street to Johnny Rocket's and realized we'd had better meals there. In spite of the lovely dining room-- Tart is well-designed and comfortable-- you have to look around and notice that Tart is, indeed, simply the restaurant tacked onto the Farmer's Daughter motel. Seriously. Never again.
Pros: within walking distance of our home, nice dining room
Cons: everything else
